Frequently Asked Questions
QPOC is an acronym for Queer People of Color. At allgo, we use the term “queer” to describe folks whose sexual orientation and gender identity are defined beyond cis-heteronormativity.
Some examples of events we have done include film screenings, book readings, theatrical performances, community health talks, health fairs, workshops, and holiday celebrations. Our event schedule is ever evolving and innovating, though, so the best way to get an idea of what’s in store is to check out our events calendar or sign up for our e-mail list and or follow us on Facebook.
Most of allgo’s events are free and open to the public; any events that have a cover charge will have that information listed on the event page. Everything that allgo does is always by, for, and about queer people of color, so our event spaces are all centered around QPOC voices and lens. We ask that all of our attendees be cognizant and respectful of this.

Our organization has gone by different names in the past, and we were originally founded under an acronym that spelled ALLGO (Austin Latina/o Lesbian and Gay Organization). Since then, the organization has shifted and adapted its focus to center around queer people of color, but the name “allgo” has been kept to honor the founders and our roots, though it is no longer an acronym. For this reason, we always write allgo with all lowercase letters (yes, even at the beginning of a sentence), and we ask that others follow this convention as well.
