Let’s Talk: Queer History
September 20 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
We invite our queer people of color community members to join us!
Come out to allgo Wednesday September 20th, 2017 from 6:00pm-8:30pm, to be part of this conversation about how our history affects our health.
The history of our communities, our families, and our own personal histories play a large part in who we are. Often times QPOC are expected to move through the world without acknowledging our histories. Join us for this conversation as we explore people, organization, and events in our communities that have had long lasting impacts on how we live today. Let’s come together and ensure that our histories are not forgotten or erased.
Our facilitator for this discussion is Tim Eubanks. Tim works to envision, design and supervise the effective implementation of community/youth development projects. Tim has over a decade of experience creating and delivering programming in solidarity with students, parents and community members’ fight for educational and health justice such as; empowering a cadre emerging teen leaders to enhance adolescent sexual health education and access to health care. Supporting youth and young adult leaders in their efforts to enhance the protective assets of youth who face elevated risk of HIV/STD transmission. As well as organizing a space for self-expression and community based health education. Tim is a proud graduate of Antioch College and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Adult, Professional and Community Education (APCE) at Texas State.
This event is one of many this year around promoting the well being and vitality of QPOC communities in Austin, TX. For more information about this and other events, or to sign up for our mailing list, send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org
