With many stressful and trying events happening around us in this time, the need for self care grows ever more apparent.
So at allgo, we are putting aside one evening just be present with our QPOC community in order to share and encourage the various ways that we each practice self care and healing. After all, self care is community care; you can’t take care of others without first taking care of yourself. Even outside of the dreary political climate, the dreary physical climate is affecting many of us as well with the winter blues (or seasonal affective disorders). This event will be an opportunity to come out and be together in order to share some validation, love, and encouragement.
We’ll be practicing some short self care exercises together about mindfulness, breathing, coping skills, and affirmation. Additionally, we want to talk about checking in; it’s one of the best things we can do for each other, but it’s not always so simple or straight forward. Let’s talk about how we can check in compassionately and externalize honestly while being mindful of each party’s energy and strength.
Know someone who could really use some self care (or even just some time away from the home or office)? Please share this event with any Austin QPOC who may be interested!
This event is one of many this year around promoting the well being and vitality of QPOC communities in Austin, TX. For more information about this and other events contact Israel Badilllo at firstname.lastname@example.org
