Program Assistant, Austin, TX

Supervisors: Health and Wellness Program Coordinator & Executive Director

Status: Part-time 15 hours a week non-exempt

 The program assistants will provide support with program development and implementation in the areas of Health & Wellness, Social Justice and Cultural Arts programming.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct community outreach and provide sexual health and wellness information and supplies as necessary
  • Support all programmatic area at allgo to meet the goals of each project
  • Maintain and collect required information for programs
  • Work with volunteers for the project
  • Conduct discussions/ trainings on health and wellness topics specific to LGBTQ POC
  • Provide LBGTQ training to health care providers
  • Provide sexual health and wellness information and supplies
  • Assist with organizational administrative tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong program implementation
  • Experience working with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people of color or communities of color
  • Able to work a flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings
  • Experience working in community organizing and knowledge of principles and practices related to community organizing and engagement
  • Knowledge of issues related to LGBTQ POC sexual health and wellness
  • Creative, strategic and analytical thinker
  • Must have strong and polished interpersonal skills
  • Must be highly organized and able to work well with others
  • Required computer experience: Operating systems (Windows and MacOS), Office suites (Microsoft Office, G Suite), Presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote), Spreadsheets (Excel, Google Spreadsheets, etc.), Social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) Database Management (Wordpress)
  • Able to work with a variety of people within the LGBTQ spectrum
  • Commitment to racial justice, social justice, and anti-oppression work
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience preferred in facilitation and group presentations
  • Bachelor's Degree or two years of college courses preferred from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience a plus
  • Digital media/graphic designing skills are a plus
