allgo’s action-oriented efforts are fueled by participation in collaborative policy and education initiatives, multi-issue action teams and the network.

Staff and volunteers serve as advocates, activists, and consultants for policy and education initiatives affecting queer people of color. Recently allgo staff participated in HIV community planning process for Austin and the 7 or 9 surrounding counties.

Recently allgo co-sponsored or participated in the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition Immigration Rally, NARAL Texas’ Healthy Women, Healthy Families Coalition, Austin AIDS Walk, Austin’s World AIDS Day activities, the Black and Brown Summit at Dallas Southern Pride, and the Austin Transgender Day of Remembrance vigil.

Multi-Issue Action Teams

Comprised of individuals and organizations from across Texas, allgo’s Multi-Issue Action Teams critically explore issues and strategies for each issue.

Through this program, allgo provides space for a diverse set of queer people of color and allied activists to work on and respond to a number of issues affecting our communities. Participants work to explore root causes of the issues affecting our lives, and also imagine together the possibility of our lives fully realized without the barriers of oppression and inequality.

Each action team identifies and explores the issues encompassing the focus area, how these issues intersect with oppressions experienced by queer people of color, and the intersections of the focus areas to each other.

Currently efforts are focused in the areas of Anti-Violence, Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Sexual Freedom, and Reproductive Justice.  These action teams meet via statewide conference calls and by utilizing an on-line community network.
